Infotherm provides information on the thermophysical properties of pure chemical compounds and
mixtures along with full bibliographic data.
Tables contain PVT-properties, phase equilibria, transport and surface properties, caloric properties and acoustic and optical properties.
Searching the database and the "preview" display format is free of charge. Infotherm offers pay-per-view access or full access to all documents on a license basis. Pay-per-view users can purchase full access
to an individual document from the free preview format. All purchased documents can be downloaded in several data formats. Please note, the CSV-download exports only the data in a spreadsheet format (e.g. MS-Excel).
In addition to licensing the entire database, customers can also purchase pre-paid packages, which then can be transformed into an unlimited license, if usage exceed the respective license fee.
For information about individual limits, pre-paid packages or license conditions please us.

You can search INFOTHERM for substances (pure compound or mixture), thermophysical properties or bibliographic data. Infotherm offers two search modes,
a Standard search and an Advanced search mode.
For descriptions please see below.
Please also have a look at our search examples on .
All terms must be entered in English.
All search terms can be entered both ways in the full-text fields "All these words", "Some of these words" and "But not".
Manually as well as by the thesaurus with the exception of numerical values (see "Numerical search").
For the creation of complex queries with multiple compounds and properties etc., the check of the results (by <Search>) is recommended after each added term.
In the case that no hits were found, please check all terms regarding their placement in the correct fields, spelling and for alternative formulations and less restrictive conditions.
Simply enter one or more search terms, e.g. "benzene boiling point" and hit «return» or click <Search>. This will immediately display your hit list.
Furthermore, you can narrow down your search by using the Boolean "OR-" (second line) or "NOT-operator" (third line).
In each search-modus ("Advanced Search" see next chapter) there is a thesaurus available on the left hand side, which offers more than 800 pre defined terms. By opening a folder and clicking on a respective term, it will be
automatically transferred in the first full-text search field on the right ("All these words"). If you want to address the lines "Some of these words" or "But not"
with a thesaurus term, you have to click into them in advance (the colour of their background turns from grey into white).
To explore the thesaurus regarding the correct search term, you can also use the line "Search in thesaurus terms"). All possible terms and their original folders will be automatically displayed, according to the entered characters
(e.g. "enth" for "Enthalpy of solution" or "thio" for "Thiocyanic acids").
To search for a further term, just click on <Reset>.
Please note the new category "Molecule classes", by which you can explore approx. 500 molecule classes (e.g. "metal organic compounds" or "inorganic acids") regarding their thermophysical properties without a specific molecule name.
The full-text search and the thesaurus can be used as described in the chapters above.
In this line you can search for a molecule by its name (pre activated) or fragments of it. If you look for a fragment like "ethoxy", please deactivate "Exact match" before.
For searching the complete name, the use of "Exact match" is recommended. Following the click on <Find molecule> the substance, which fits to the given
name as best, is placed on the top of list of derivatives, which can be explored by the scroll-down button (recommended for the search for
very complex names, e.g. for 1-Bromo-2-(2-(2-methoxyethoxy)ethoxy)benzene by "ethoxy").
Alternatively, the search can be done by "Formula" or "CAS registry no.". In this case, please activate the respective category before.
If the desired compound is found, it has to be transferred into the respective full-text-field below by clicking on <Add to query>. If you want to add an additional compound, click on <New search>
and proceed as described before.
Please note, that terms taken from the thesaurus cannot be transferred into the molecule search.
This line is activated only by choosing a property from the thesaurus and it refers to the last chosen property. If you are interested in a range, please use "from" by the scroll-down-button below, "≤" or
"≥" resp. (recommended). For an exact match use "=".
Please note, that all values must be entered according to the SI-units given in the line above.
With <Add range> the defined range will be transferred into the full-text query fields.
Additional buttons below the full-text-fields:
You delete the whole query.
You start the search.
View the hit-list with a short "preview" on the left hand side, which gives the basic settings and conditions. For getting access to the whole table, please click on
<Full access> on the right hand side, the given price resp.
For the pay-per-view modus, please follow the instructions of click & buy . For the purchase of a subscription or a DVD, please us.
If you click on or on the top, you will be returned to the respective search mode by retaining the last query you set up there.
